Canadian saxophonist, composer and arranger Jacob Do leads a group of Montreal and Edmonton musicians that culminates in an energetic and sophisticated jazz ensemble. With strong roots in the jazz tradition, the group aims to deliver a high level of improvisation that includes aspects of storytelling and interaction. Jacob, Max Zhang (trumpet), David Rourke (guitar), and Daniel Verdecchia (drums) are all current students at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music, where they have studied with some of North America’s finest musicians, including Remi Bolduc, Kevin Dean, John Hollenbeck, and Andre White, among others. They are backed by Edmonton musicians Chris Andrew on piano and Paul Johnston on Bass. Together, the band presents Jacob’s original compositions, arrangements, and classic jazz standards in an refreshing way while remaining connected to the history of America’s original art form.
*This tour is made possible by the support of the Schulich School of Music’s Enriched Educational Opporunities (EEO) program.*
